1932. Guy Bennett (Rupert Everett) is a promising young student at a prestigious English boarding school. Homosexual relationships are turned a blind eye because of the absence of girls and under the condition that these relations remain hidden. When two boys violate this rule and are caught, one of them commits suicide. The school is upside down. Guy realizes that his homosexual feelings are not transient, when he falls in love with Harcourt (Cary Elwes), another student, and overlaps the rules of his boot. The militaristic Fowler tries to push back in harness and humiliates him publicly, but Guy does not bend. His future is uncertain and suddenly he decides to strike back with the communist ideology as a weapon.
